Assistant Governor's Visit
Elizabeth Duff, our Assistant Governor this year, was our guest speaker this week. She spoke of the new Rotary Theme for the year and of the plans the district Governor has for this Rotary Year. |
|
RI Pesident Ray Klinginsmith said he arrived at the theme after reviewing RI themes of years past. He noticed that only a few spoke to non-Rotarians.
"As a result, I decided to search for a briefly stated theme that would fulfill two objectives: the first to explain Rotary to non-Rotarians, and the second to validate our work for Rotarians," he said. "The words I have selected to describe Rotary's current mission and to highlight our achievements are what we do best: Building Communities -- Bridging Continents. "

Ralph Head was with us as a visitor again - he missed being with us last week because he was at a training meeting in Florida. We welcomed back Marilyn Fountain the community outreach coordinator for the Star of Hope Mission. The club presented the Star of Hope with $840.00 from the Carolyn King Memorial Fund. Several members added to this making the total presented in excess of $1,000.00. The Star of Hope Mission is having a tough time meeting the needs of the community in these tough times. Last month they had a budget shortfall or about $1 million. thia has imporved somewhat...but they are still in need of additional support.
Karen Blakeman got a double dose this week - she was serenaded by Bola and the masses assembled to honor her birthday - and she was called on by President Delores to present a Classification Talk on being an architect. |
