Modern Motivation

C.J.Coolidge ws our guest spoeaker this week, speaking on motivation and how to recognize the varying steps needed to motivate each generation, starting with the Traditionalists who were C.J. Coolidgeborn between 1925 and 1945 and ending, ten generational steps later with the Millenniums who were born in 2000 or later. He also talked about the three steps necessary to motivate people, ending with "Never do anything unnecessary." Learn more...

CJ said he spoke to many Rotary clubs and appreciated their endeavors so he never spoke to a Rotary club without making a donation and he gave us a check for $100 to use as we see fit. He had copies of his book, Squaredime Letters, for sale for $20 and he also donated one copy which we awarded by drawing one of the door prize ticketsl

Delores was the lucky winner and, perhaps, his entire speech was well encapsulated by the inscriptionhe wrote in the book: "Delores---This is a book of ideas---not the 3-step formula for fixing something---the good news? Ideas are exactly what the doctor ordered to help your organization gain a sustainable competitive advantagel This is the key to prosperity for any company in any economy. Enjoy!" and he ended with a reference to Romans 8:32.

Guests, Visitors and Other Good News

We had three guests: Terry Zigler, Ralph Head and a member of the new Sunrise-59 club.

During sunshine News, Delores announced that Ralph Head had submitted his application for membership.

Terry Zigler spoke about Polio Plus and handed out worksheets. Sharpstown had pledged $2,280 but donated $8,456. The biggest donnor was the West U club with $19,588, followed by the Houston club with $14,090, Humbel Intercontinental with $12,122 and University Area with $11,195. We were in 5th position which is fantastic for a club of our size. The new vaccine which was introduced last January has resulted in a dramatic reduction in cases in the four targeted countries.

After the four-way test, President Delores ended the meeting with the Parting Thought which was a quote from Michael Jordan: "I can accept failure. What I cannot accept is not trying."
