New Member InductionInduction

Judy Lee Gardinar visited with us this week to handle the induction of our new member: Frank Ha.

Frank is an educational consultant working with many students to encourage them to work hard and to succeed. Frank's sponsor, Ken Marsh, has already gotten Frank involved in becoming a mentor at Lee High School working with at-risk students there to help them succeed.

Frank is very outgoing and personable...so he will be an excellent addition to the club's membership.

Guests, Visitors and Other Good News

We had a good group of visitors this week...and with a new member induction it was a great meeting in whihch to show off the club to visitors!

Terrence Thompson, an associate of Karen Blakeman, visited again - this time to tell us of things happening at the Buffalo Soldiers Museum here in Houston. Karen also introduced her associate Nicole Wycislo as a visitor this week.

Belinda Postman Kaylani from the Galleria Area Rotary Club visited with us this week.

George Williams from the Hermann Park Rotary Club visited with us at the invitation of Ken Marsh.

Homer Borgstedte from the Bellaire Southwest Houston Rotary Club joined us again this week.

The monthly Club Assembly Auction netted $101.00...with Bola taking home a very nice purse (thank you Judy Lee), Lee Larkin walked out with 4 dozen cookies...and everybody was a real winner!

Karen Blakeman recognized two more of the club members who have made their anual $100 or more donation to the Rotary Foundation: Evelyn Hoyer and Lee Larkin. They both got laied by Karen.

Club Social Was Delicious!

The club social held Saturday, February 23rd, at Pier 61 was a delightful evening of good friends and good food. Almost the entire club membership was in attendance and we welcomed our Lt. Governor Judy Harwell as a visitor. We also had the pleasure of having Luba and Naif Kadhim join us for the evening.

Annual Wine Tasting Dinner & Silent Auction

February 20 - Dinner and Silent Auction, 6:30 PM at the Hilton Houston Southwest
This is our big fund raising event for the year and it needs to be successful to enable the club to fulfill many of the service projects planned for the coming months. All members should try to find items for the auction...small, medium or large...just something that people would like to bid on and own. All information on the items for the auction needs to be given to Ken Burgess by our meeting on Tuesday, February 16th. Click here to download the item info form. Click here to make reservations.
