Auction Day Was Hectic!

The Club Assembly this month was dedicated to humor...and the vocational scholarship fund raising mini-auction (which was humorous in itself!!!)Auction items

The items donated this month included a home cooked cranberry/nut bread, a fiberglass casting rod, fishing lures, a bottle of wine, 18 golf balls, an applesauce/raisin cake, an assortment of holiday wrapping paper with napkins and bags, a selection of health and sleep aids, two gift wrapped boxes of Belgian chocolate truffles and much, much more.

With Past President JohnPaul Jourard acting as auctioneer the bidding was very active...and we had to watch that auctioneer...he was using the assumptive higher bid close very often. But it was certainly a fun event for a good cause.

When the dust had cleared the club had raised $346.00 to be added to the Ed Webster Vocational Scholarship Fund. Nice work! Give yourselves a pat on the back.

Good News & Humor

Delores Desling took the top prize this week for humor. As is usual, Delores can pull out a story that brings a smile to everyone's face...and she does it with a straight face! Delightful Delores, our Chair for Humor.

The Sunshine News dollars were flowing freely this week, as almost everyone was happy about at least one happening in their lives. It is really nice to see so many happy faces...and we all were busy wishing each other Happy Holidays...Merry Christmas...Drive Safely...and whatever else came to mind.

Two Important Club Events

January 23 - Club Social, 6:30 PM at Pier 61 Seafood. (Dutch treat)
If you have someone who is a potential club member, this would be a great opportunity to show them how the family of Rotary really is a family. Please let Jeff Novy know how many will be in your party so he can have the area properly set of our group.

February 20 - Dinner and Silent Auction, 6:30 PM at the Hilton Houston Southwest
This is our big fund raising event for the year and it needs to be successful to enable the club to fulfill many of the service projects planned for the coming months. All members should try to find items for the auction...small, medium or large...just something that people would like to bid on and own. All information on the items for the auction needs to be given to Ken Burgess by our meeting on Tuesday, February 16th. Click here to download the item info form.
