The New American School - Is This The Future of Education?
| Debbie Elder, Executive Director, Chief of Operations, NEW American Learning Solutions, Inc. and Associate Dean for Development, NEW American School, Inc. was our guest speaker this week. Debbie told of her experience as a mom who home schooled her two daughters and how, when she felt college preparation was beyond her solo capabilities, she found The New American School founder in the Dallas area and set off to interview him. Debbie admits that she was impressed and so she adopted the systems and techniques offered to home school mom by The New American School...but also blended in her own techniques and learning plans to arrive at a system she was comfortable with. |
|
It obviously worked! Debbie's daughters are two very well educated and self-confident college students who are held in high regard by the faculty of their college.
There are a number of home school programs molded around The New American School systems in the Houston area. To learn more visit The New American School website or, email Debbie Elder (she is a great speaker for your club meeting! |

She has a long road ahead for full recovery and returning home...but we are all on her side! Keep her in your prayers. We are still working on an alternative location for the Holiday Party...call Jeff Novy if you wish to help: 832-453-8663 Cell
Boy! Did We have Birthdays!

Basketball Tournament, Nov 19-21, 2009
The time is here! If you have not yet signed up for the concession booth or the ticket table (or BOTH!)...you still have time! Karen especially needs help at the concession booth on Friday, Nov. 20th, since Paige will be having surgery on that day (if all goes well). See Jeff Novy for ticket table schedules and see (or email Karen) for concession booth scheduling.
Thanks to all who sold ads in the program. Sales were off this year..."it's the economy stupid". But hopefully we will still be able to have a successful event. Remember...start times for Thursday and Friday are 3:30 PM and Saturday at 9:00 AM. It's a lot of fun and it supports the Robert G. Fitts Scholarship Fund! |
