Houston Aeros Hockey

Our guest speaker this week was Joe O'Donnell the voice of the Houston Aeros. He told us about the 15 year history of the Aeros and the general history of Houston hockey...going back to the era of Gordy Howe in the original Aeros in the 70s.

The Aeros were bumped from the Calder Cup Playoffs in the last season but have great plans for the season that starts this fall. It will be Kevin Constantine's second season as head coach for the Aeros.

The Aeros are workng on the development of a Rotary Night with the Aeros, and the club has been invited to contact Joe about doing our own outing to the Toyota Center for a Aeros game..

Delores Delsing introduced us to her friend, and West U Rotarian, Linda Holter who visited today to gain a make-up meeting. You are welcome at any time Linda!

The Good News offerings this week dealt in large part with general appreciation for the recent rains. Seems to have worked...we had more rain on Thursday.

Wayne Staton announced that he now has two bands signed up for the October 10th End Polio fund raising concert event at the Last Concert Cafe.

District Membership Assembly - Saturday, August 8th

August is Membership Month, a special time of the year when the entire Rotary family focuses on Membership Recruitment & Retention. What better way to kick-start your membership efforts than attending the District Membership Seminar at North Shore Senior High. Registration starts at 8:00AM; Seminar 8:55AM - 1:00pm

Club Presidents are encouraged to personally lead a delegation of their club membership committee, along with President-elect, secretary, program chair and any other interested members. (Especially the "Newbees")
