Fordjour's Counseling Center, GhanaBill Landers and Paul Foudjour

Paul Fordjour visited with us briefly today. He is a licensed therapist who works in Ghana with the mentally challenged citizens there - because the government has little funding to support such work. A good deal of his work is with those suffering from depression because they are HIV positive. He has established a clinic in Ghana that is supported by donations and with funds from his own pocket.

One of his mentally unstable patients in Ghana attacked Paul, wiht the result that he had to return to the United States where the doctors found he had bleeding on his brain. His doctors successfully treated him, but Paul is having to remain in the USA until Septermber to assure complete recovery. Due to his shoestring operation the Fordjour Counseling Center has no website and Paul has no email address. If you would like to donate to support Paul's clinic you can reach Paul via his cell phone at 281-824-2373

Guests, Visitors and Other Good News

Jerry Hobby introduced the group to his nephew Tim. He is in the process of leaving the U.S. Navy after 6 years of service, including a tour in Iraq.

President Bill called for an extended session of "Humor From The Floor". JohnPaul Jourard and Delores Delsing led the way and raised a goodly chortle from the group.

Installation Banquet and Awards Celebration

Saturday, June 27th, is the club's Installation Banquet and Awards Celebration. This is the meeting at which one Rotary Year ends...and the gavel is passed to the new Club President to start the new Rotary Year.

There will be awards and recognitions presented for special accomplishments and contributions during the 2008-2009 Rotary Year. Karen Blakeman, and hopefully a special guest, will present updates on the Paul Harris status of members and their contributions to the Rotary Foundation.

The club will present our special guest and honoree Margaret Mitchell, a long-time activist with the Sharpstown Civic Association and a current SCA Director, for her continued contributions to the community.

Special Guest Emcee, Past District Governor Jeff Tallas, will install the new club officers and board members for the 2009-2010 Rotary Year.

PLUS...there will be lots of Rotary camaraderie and good food. And...oh yes...the chance to win some special prizes.

You DO NOT want to miss this very special event...so CLICK HERE to make your reservations ($35 per person) via PayPal. We encourage early reservations...since that will allow us to properly plan the room layout and provide enough goodies for the anticipated winners.

Reservations MUST be made no later that Tuesday, June 23rd! Walk-ins WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does - except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place.
