New Technology Means New Legal Problems

This week local attorney Daniel Krohn talked about "Bleeding Edge Issues - Where the New Technologies Meet the Law".

It turns out that our technology is advancing Dan Krohnfar faster than our legal system can adapt to protect us and offer the needed regulation of such a evolving industry.

Dan talked about many of the "scams" that exist on the Internet. He noted that as fast as the law and law enforcement can move to intercept such activities they perpetrators evolve them into a new level of ways to separate people from their money. As Dan noted, the really neat thing about technology is that it is always changing and evolving...but our legal and regulator system is in a reactive mode much more than a proective mode as far as protecting us is concerned.

In general...on the Internet (as in life) if it sounds too good to be true...you can bet that it is a scam!

Dan writes a continuing Blog dealing with many of the legal issues of the "new technology." You can find out more at his website

Guests, Vistors and Other Good News

This week we were delighted to welcome a number of visiting Rotarians to our luncheon! Our Assistant Governor Judy Lee Gardiner visited from the Galleria Area Club - and she brought us a huge selection of silent auction items for our February 23rd dinner (she also reserved and paid for a ticket to the dinner - have YOU?).

We also welcomed Homer Borgsedt from the Bellaire Southwest Houston Club and Shelly Neider from the Galleria Area Club.

It is always a delight to see Rotarians from other clubs come to visit with us...and everyone is WELCOME!
