A Rotary Representative

Ruby Powers was our guest speaker this week, telling the story of her education through her association with Rotary. Ruby has been a Rotary Exchange Student and then a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.

As an Ambassadorial Scholar she spent a year studying in Barcelona, Spain. Her stories about finding classes that were offered in Spanish not the local language (Catalan) were very entertaining.

Ruby is now a visiting student at the University of Houston School of Law from the University of North Carolina. She intends to practice immigration law and will likely reside in the Houston area - since her husband is now employed by one of our area oil companies.

Ruby is a wonderful example of how support of the Rotary Foundation benefits a better understanding between the various peoples of the world through the exchange and study programs underwritten by the Foundation.
