A Family Member Has Moved On
It is with regret we report that on Sunday, August 26, 2007, the Rotary Club of Sharpstown, and Rotary District 5890, lost a member of our family.
John A. Naidu died at home with his family in India. His wife Josephine was at his side.
John joined the Rotary CLub of Sharpstown on October 15, 1996. He served the club in many capacities and always had a very strong interest in the activities of the Rotary Foundation. John served as Club President for the 2006-2007 Rotary Year.
John was the Club's Fashion Leader - always being properly dressed for a royal presentation or White House visit. He even out-shown JohnPaul Jourard with his impeccable sense of style and was a true class act - both in clothing and in life.
John had the unique ability to surprise everyone with something very simple - when it was least expected. At one of the Club's Basketball Tournaments, John asked if anyone was hungry. When he got affirmative responses - he said he'd bring in something for everyone to eat. When he returned he brought in a selection of Indian foods - something quite different from the expected hot dogs or hamburgers.
Though he seemed quiet, John was intense. He insisted that everyone should attend Rotary events whenever possible. He made almost every District and Club event imaginable and attended the Rotary International Convention in Salt Lake City. He had a deep sense of the purposes behind Rotary and the work Rotarians do. And he was always ready to support Club, District and Foundation needs for funding - even when not directly requested.
In summary, John was what we all should hope to be: A loving, honest, caring and dedicated person. To have had him as a fellow Rotarian and to have known him as a friend is indeed an honor. And his passing is personally painful to all of us who called him "friend." |
