The Sharpstown Civic Association

Margaret Mitchel, Vice President of the Sharpstown Civic Association was our guest speaker this week.

Margaret talked about the duties the SCA has in the enforcement of the deed restrictions on the single family homes in the various areas of Sharpstown.  Details ranging from yard maintenace, exterior home additions, commercial vehicles parked at residences, graffitti, proper placement and removal of garbage cans for pickup and on, and on, and on.  The SCA is often little appreciated - but always busy working to keep the Sharptown area looking its best and thus helping retain the value of the homes in the area.

The SCA is working with the Rotary Club of Sharpstown on developing a way to raise funds to buy special police radio for the Constables on partrol so they will be able to communicate with HPD.  Currently the Sheriff radio system and HPD's radio system cannot "talk' to each other.

Guests and Visitors

Karen Blakeman introduced her guest, Wayne Staton.  Wayne is a "geek" at BMC Software and he met Karen through mutual expeiences at Landmark.  Come again Wayne!

Ken Burgess had as his guest Jerry Levy.  Jerry will be our guest speaker on June 19th - and came to "check out" the club before his appearance.

Club Celebration & Installation Dinner

Saturday, June 30, 2007 - is the date for our annual club celebration and the installation of officers and directors for the coming year. 

This will be an evening dinner event and will be held at the Hilton Houston Southwest Hotel.  The evening and dinner will at $35.00 per person.  A cash bar is being considered if there is enough interest.

Please submit you menu selections to Archie along with your payment.  Reservations are due no later than the meeting of June 26th.
