SHARPSTOWN HIGH INTERACT CLUB IS BUSY!

The Sharpstown High School Interact Club (sponsored by The Rotary Club of Sharpstown and the Rotary Club of West U) was formed in late 2006. The club has an initial membership of about a dozen students representing almost all grades in the High School. Interact Club President Steven Garcia says that there is over an 80% particiaption rate in any individual club event with all club members involved in one or more of the various activities.

The activities planned by the Interact Club for the next several months are as follows:

February into March - The Inyeract Club in cooperation with the Red Cross Club at Sharpstown High School are raising money which will be given to the Red Cross to use in the Darfur relief efforts. Darfur is an area in Sudan that is suffering from what has been called genocide with thousands of adults and children dying from starvation and violence.

February 24th - Interact Club members will act as judges for a Theater Arts Festival being held at Jane Long Middle School

March 3rd & 4th - Interact Club members will participate in the Rotary District 5890 Interact Club Conference being held at Langham Creek High School in the Cy-Fair School District. This is a gathering of representatives from Interact Clubs from all over the Houston area.

March 11th - Interact Club members will participate in the 2007 AIDS Walk Houston. AIDS Walk Houston, presented by Chevron, is an exciting, non-competitive walk event that increases community awareness and educates Houstonians about HIV/AIDS. Proceeds from AIDS Walk Houston raises money for AIDS Foundation Houston, Inc., as well as many other local HIV/AIDS service organizations.

April through May 2007 - The Sharpstown High School Interact Club will be offering a FREE discount coupon for Mr. Carwash. The coupon will give holders a 25% discount off their carwashes and for each carwash the Interact Club will earn $2.50 to be used to support the club's civic and community service activities. More information on this event will be published in March.
